Academic and theoretical contributions

In terms of the theoretical framework and research approach:

The thesis extends the approach to sustainable enterprise development from a corporate finance perspective by integrating ESG considerations into financial decision-making. This represents a departure from conventional studies that examine ESG implementation in isolation. Furthermore, the thesis establishes financial stability as a fundamental prerequisite for sustainable development and examines the integration of ESG factors into strategic financial decisions, thereby contributing to the refinement of the theoretical foundations of sustainable corporate finance.

In terms of measurement methodology and analytical framework:

The thesis develops and quantifies an integrated Financial Stability Index (iFSI) as a comprehensive measure of financial stability, rather than relying solely on traditional profitability indicators. Using the iFSI as the dependent variable to empirically examine the impact of ESG on financial stability, the study provides novel empirical evidence on the relationship between ESG performance and corporate financial stability.

Practical contributions

In terms of practical findings and policy implications:

The thesis provides a comprehensive assessment of the financial position, investment cash flows, level of ESG implementation, and financial stability of enterprises under the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) during the 2020–2024 period. It also clarifies the impact of ESG on financial stability, thereby identifying key governance bottlenecks and providing a practical basis for enterprises to develop financial solutions aligned with ESG objectives, strengthen financial stability, and pursue sustainable development.

In terms of proposed solutions:

The thesis proposes a synchronized system of ESG-aligned financial solutions to strengthen financial stability and create leverage for enterprises under Vinachem to achieve sustainable development. These recommendations also provide a valuable reference for regulatory authorities, policymakers, and enterprises operating in industries exposed to significant environmental and social risks in the formulation and implementation of relevant strategies, policies, and development solutions.
